I wanted to explore the search trends surrounding guns following the aftermath of school shootings, specifically the most recent one at Stoneman Douglas. I narrowed the timeline of my search to a week before the shooting happened until a month after it had passed. I looked for gun searches related to purchasing guns, and searches related to supporting more restrictions on gun purchases. I was curious to see if there was a spike in either. I broke down my research further to analyze regionally where the most searches in either category was most popular. My prediction was the there would be more searches in regards to purchasing guns in more southern and traditionally conservative states, and that there would be more searches in favor of gun control in more liberal states such as California.
